Sewing the Geo Tank Top pattern (Misusu): a free and stylish tee
The Geo Tank Top fell in full force (and free) early August while I was looking for some out of the ordinary t-shirt sewing patterns.
I especially had this pretty yellow jersey with a contrasting contrast quite interesting that I wanted to highlight.

The Geo Tank Top pattern
Having noticed a (slight) deficit in summer tees in my closet, I bought 2 jersey coupons in early summer at Tissus.net.
But, I also wanted to experiment with some new patterns. For the record, I have already done:
Plantain by Deer & Doe | Briac by Marie Poisson | Arsène by Chez Machine |
Erell by Marie Poisson | Lago by Itch to Stitch | Square Neck Top byFriday Pattern Co |
Pixie Tee by Chalk & Notch | Maya by La Maison Victor | Josy by Fritzi |
Piouf … before putting all the links, I didn’t realize that I had made all these t-shirts (summer tees because I excluded others more winter oriented) !!
Misusu has released this pretty tank top with its very original armholes and, icing on the cake, free for the members of Misusu Patterns Sew & Tell Facebook group.
3 types of armholes are proposed: thin band, medium band and combination thin + wide bands.
The boss is fitted on the top of the bust and then flares on the waist and hips.
The pattern explanations are exceptional both in the amount of detail provided and in the quality of the illustrations. I didn’t know the Misusu brand at all and I am totally conquered.
The level of detail is pushed to offer different pattern pieces depending on the chosen fabric: jersey or rib knit.
Sewing the Geo Tank Top
Because of the multiple different armholes options, there are many pieces that look alike. Fortunately, the booklet offers a tree of choice to avoid any mistake in witch pieces are to be cut.
The booklet also explains how to grade between 2 sizes, which I did.
Then, the real big dificulty is sewing the armhole bands with those right angles. Moreover, this part is sewn with the sewing machine given the level of precision required.
Frankly, this is not a project for beginners, nor for viscose jersey (anyway viscose is poo).
I’m not completely satisfied with my achievement … And yet, for the 2nd armhole, I basted as the explanations advised (yes, you can deduce thant I tried to play clever and I didn’t for the 1st armhole). And I re-made it several times. But hey, that’s okaaaaay.
A posteriori, I will stabilize the corners with fusible next time to ensure the accuracy of my right angled seams.
Not only do I try to sew matching panties when sewing a bra … but I ALSO begun to sew a pair of panties when I make a t-shirt to finish the fabric remnants as fast as I can. In addition, the serger is already threaded with the right color of yarn and everything. Pif, paf, pouf.
Here, an Acacia again.
Last words on that tank top
Well, it’s great 🙂 I was a little afraid it would be a bit too long but no. I find these armholes supercalifragilisticexpialidocious but don’t expect to be able to sew this Geo Tank Top with you brain on hold.
Misusu is a brand to remember. I especially spotted the Dia sweatshirt pattern which seems ideal to showcase some remnants.
