The leggings Inspire, Moto add-on (Green style Creations)

This Inspire legging “Moto style” is the second piece sewn in my double-sided “cotton” jersey coupon after the Garnet cardigan.

As a result, I now have a matching “set”, a twin-set amost, a cardigan-leggings suit that is the epitome of casualness.

And frankly, I would have laughed slightly in the face of anyone telling me I would ever wear an “ensemble”.

The Inspire leggings pattern

But apparently, a quick trip to Asos tells me it’s back on trend.

Phew. ALL IS WELL. That takes a load off my mind!

Ah ah ah. No, I’m kidding. I don’t care.

I’ve been dreaming about this moto style, a bit rock, leggings for too long.

I know I say that a lot. But I definitely have more opportunities to dream about my sewing projects than sew them. And since I have a laaarge imagination… There is a bottleneck in the process as we say at work.

Bottom line.

The Inspire leggings is a fairly classic sports leggings with leg inserts, a low waistband with a small pocket and an optional crotch gusset.

The free Moto add-on allows you to add yokes with pintucks on the thighs and calves.

And finally, the high waist extension does exactly what it says.

Green Style Creations is an American brand of sportswear patterns well known on Thread & Neddles.

And when you say American brand, you say inclusive size range from 2XS to 3XL.

The explanations are clear and detailed even if I find the layout quite basic. But that’s probably more the graphic designer talking.

Sew the Inspire leggings

The pattern calls for a jersey with at least 50% stretch… Since I was just at 50% with my jersey, I sewed it in size L even though it was a little above my hip measurements.

The pintucked yokes are prepared like quilting.

The pleats are sewn onto a larger piece and then the piece is cut out.

I also made the crotch gusset.

Of course, everything was assembled on the serger with the seams covered “wrong side up” on the coverstitcher.

For the high waisted belt, I took the idea of the pocket of the initial belt but bigger.

Even like that, it’s practical for a tissue but let’s forget the phone.

In the end, the high waisted belt falls just on my natural waist. Not super super high but very comfortable.

Rather than making the waistband out of double layer of jersey, I lined it with powernet. However, I omitted the clear elastic on the seam allowances at the top of the belt.

The pintucks on the right side of the leggings match the wrong side pintucks on the Garnet cardigan. I didn’t anticipate this detail but I’m very happy about it.

Serendipity.

Conclusion

I’ve been eyeing this pattern for a long time and I’m so glad I took the plunge

As you can see on the pictures above, the Inspire leggings have also accompanied me all summer long on vacation, at work, at home… Very good investment of my time.

Will I ever make another one? Probably. I also really like the Molly leggings pattern from Studio Calicot without side seams. But it doesn’t work for yokes. So it depends on the style you want.

Anyway, I recommend the Inspire leggings 🙂
